Pressure loss is a symptom

Repeated pressure loss usually means water is leaving the sealed heating system or a component is not controlling expansion correctly.

Common causes

Small radiator leaks, pipework leaks, pressure relief discharge, expansion vessel faults and recent radiator bleeding can all affect pressure.

What to avoid

Repeatedly topping up the boiler without finding the cause can mask a problem and introduce fresh oxygen into the system, which may encourage corrosion.
